IN GQ MAGAZINE

What an honor to pose next to vintage Singer machines which are, amazingly, STILL working! At a man's clothing shop (tailor's) 😃😃😃Though sewing and clothes making is commonly associated with women, men's tailoring has also a long history, glamor and tradition. Jules Verne makes Phileas Fogg reside in Savile Row, and dress from the legendary Savile Row tailors. Famously, Alexander McQueen trained there, stitching while seated cross legged on a counter top before he attended St Martin's.

I was amazed to find this tailor's workshop in central Limassol (near Anexartisias and Pentadromos, on Navarino street). Mr Kroisos Apostolou is a traditional men's tailor, who cuts and stitches by hand. Even his diploma, from a very well known Greek fashion school, dated 1973, is an historical document. You can see it here in the picture. Mr Apostolou was kind enough to pose for The Lipstick Papers!

Savile Row housed the Royal Geographic Society, in the glorious 19th century. If you want to know more, there is an article all about it in Wikipedia. Also, there is an informative piece in gq-magazine.co.ukabout Savile Row as it is today! 💝💄💋😀👠❤️🎶

EXCEPT SCRAMBLED EGGS AND PLAIN PASTA

Read a Book Day today, the best day at The Lipstick Papers after National Lipstick Day! Got some new books, a cookery book and the 2017-18 Mason, French and Ryan on Company Law. I can't cook anything except scrambled eggs and plain pasta, but I have a collection of cookery books! I even copy Victorian recipes from the archived periodicals. From modern cookery books, I prefer those which combine cookery with life story and the cultural aspect of food. Food memoirs, I think they are called.

As for the law book, I have both a law degree and a literature/ gender studies specialization, so I teach law too. According to OUP, this company law book is the only one updated annually.
I will wish you a happy Read a Book Day. Wherever you are, take beauty always with you! 💋💝❤️💄👠

EXACTLY APPROPRIATE

Can you believe that I bought the top 23 years ago???? It was in London, from La Senza. (I guess the London drawing behind me is exactly appropriate for the post). I was glad to find out that La Senza still exists, and still rocks! The truth is that I wore the top only a few times, but there is no doubt that it has held on well. Moving from cupboard to cupboard, house to house and decade to decade, it is still pretty and fashionable!

London is my favorite place on earth. I can recount shopping adventures in London that happened a quarter of a century ago. Maybe I should write a book about them!
Meanwhile, I wish you a nice day, always with beauty and a book! 💋👠💝💄❤️

HAIRDO

When I go to the hairdresser, I always think of Charlotte Bronte and Villette, where protagonist Lucy Snowe can't recognize herself after her hair is treated by a professional hairdresser! This is certainly one of my favorite scenes in the book. I believe that Lucy is wrong not to pay attention to her appearance. She gradually changes, but not in time to win the man she really wants, the annoying Graham Breton. None of the men in Villette is any good; I hate Paul Emanuel, the one Lucy "gets" in the end. My favorite is "bad boy" Alfred de Hamal, whom we are not supposed to like at all. But then, I always side with the subversive characters.

Here I do some therapy with coconut oil, and then comes professional drying. I love doing my hair!
