AT LENGTH DID CROSS AN ALBATROSS

What better way to pass International Women's Day than take selfies with the Milos Aphrodite? (Okay, a replica). Of course, nowadays Aphrodite has given up her Grecian mantle and dresses exclusively at Ralph and Russo, Shiatzy Chen, D Squared 2, Rachel Zoe and all the other amazing designers! When she wants to be playful (i.e. every day) it's Jean Paul Gaultier. And shoes? Only Louboutin, as Christian Grey said about Ana.

Being a feminist, I am ambivalent about women's day. Often the media, patriarchal as they are, use it as a way to say, "look, we do love you! We think you are great! All women are great!" This is patronizing at best. Sometimes they focus on the celebration as a way to suggest that all problems have been solved.
However, many problems still remain, and countless women are being horribly abused daily, even in so called progressed societies.

As a beauty blogger and a feminist, I have this to say. Being a woman, or a man, should be a joy and a beauty, not destiny or an albatross round the neck. All genders have their own beauty, and all genders are equal.
Have a good day, always with beauty and a book! ðŸ’‹ðŸŒ¹❤️💄👠
P.S. The post title comes from The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Coleridge's magnificent poem. I think this is the story from where the phrase albatross round the neck was created.
